Restorative dentistry and simple to advanced prosthetic rehabilitation.
Advanced Diploma in Dental Implantology from the FGDP and the Royal College of Surgeons in London
I qualified as a dentist in South Africa in the beautiful town of Stellenbosch – in the heart of the wine growing region of the Cape. After serving as a dental officer in the SA defence force for two years, I immigrated to the UK to advance my career. In 1984, while working in the NHS, I joined the Society for Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD). This provided me with the training and skill required to enable the safe administration of intra-venous sedation agents. Since those early days I have worked in both NHS and private dental practices, in the UK and the RSA. Higher demands from patients meant more investment in training so that in 2005 I completed the Advanced Diploma course in Dental Implantology from the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (FGDP), Royal College of Surgeons in London.
I have spent the last ten years in my own private practice in Hertfordshire. I have now decided to join the Dental Arts Studio to share my many years of clinical experience with likeminded, enthusiastic clinicians.
I live with my partner Lynda and daughter Margaux (law student). Two older sons, Emile and Ivan, have both ‘flown the nest’.
I am fatally attracted to the sun so with every possible opportunity I move closer... When not looking at how people’s smiles can look even better, you’ll find me on a golf course or a beach (mostly just on my terrace at home with a small bbq fire and some of that fine South African brew from the vines on the slopes of the Cape mountains....)
I also have a private aeroplane licence (PPL) and I’m a fully qualified divemaster – just to get some balance in my life.
